Armenians destroyed Azeri cemetery

Armenians have destroyed a cemetery outside an occupied village of Azerbaijan’s Gazakh district, according to the deputy chief of the district police department.
Adalat Sadygov told reporters on Friday that though the Gyzylhajily village is under Armenian occupation, the graveyard has not been taken over.
“The cemetery is under our control. Local residents bury their loved ones there. In the early hours on January 8, unknown individuals destroyed the cemetery and broke over 30 gravestones. Also, a wood-made cross was placed on the grave of one person who was buried yesterday,” Sadygov said.
The deputy police chief said it was beyond doubt that Armenians committed the vandalism, adding that investigation was underway.
Azerbaijan and Armenia fought a lengthy war that ended with the signing of a cease-fire in 1994, but Armenia continues to occupy Upper Garabagh and seven other Azerbaijani districts in defiance of international law. The Armenian armed forces invaded the Gyzylhajily village in May 1992.*
